In the last few years, concrete countertops and tables have become very popular items. They are prized for their warm, handcrafted feel. Concrete is an extremely versatile material, so a concrete countertop can range from a very rustic design to a very refined piece, depending upon the clients tastes.

A concrete top can have a flat, uniform color or a mottled and variegated one. Colors for these countertops start with a natural base. This is not lackluster gray concrete of the past. Variations of color are virtually unlimited. Countertops are precast at 1 1/2" to 3" and 3/4" to 1 1/4" for back splashes. Once cured these countertops are sealed with a permeable and durable topcoat, then polished to a brilliant finish. Even though these coatings are tough and provide a high degree of stain resistance, like any natural stone surface, care must be taken when preparing food (i.e, don't use the countertop for a cutting board!)
